DBCO is a visual artist currently based in the Philippines and she primarily works with oil paintings and installations to express themes of isolation, longing and liberty.
Being of mixed Asian origin and having lived in Belgium and the Philippines, she gains visual and technical inspiration from traditional ink paintings (水墨畫), ukiyo-e (浮世絵), local textiles and the Impressionist movement. In an attempt to reflect the influences and cultures she grew up with in her work, she creates monochromatic pieces with impressionist strokes and high chroma paintings with lines and patterns reminiscent of thread, paths and calligraphy.
